Mostly cuz the original series was basically all white despite being set in the south?
Except for a couple of vacation episodes (Hawaii, "Chinatown") I guess

What this article leaves out is that if you hand your unlocked phone to a police officer, they can legally search it. Unless companies develop a method that allows you to show officers insurance cards and driver license without unlocking the rest of your phone, don't.

Problem: people still show up as "following" an account even if they have blocked that account or that account has blocked them. Presumably people can unfollow a blocked account, but realistically who is going to bother?

Grass is extremely natural and grassland ecosystems (prairie, savannah) naturally covered about 1/3 of the land on Earth. Most of our big herbivores depend on grasslands. π¦¬π¦
Lawns are unnatural and bad for the environment, but lawns and grass are not the same thing.

Medicine was wildly different before germ theory, but people did notice symptoms. Cholera symptoms are distinct from other diarrheal diseases.
But mostly I was pointing out that in most of the world, cholera is a fairly modern disease, since most people don't know that historical context.

Cholera didn't leave the India/Bangladesh region until the early 1800s.
But dysentery outbreaks were common during times of war, famine, and other social upheaval.
A Dance With Dragons even had a dysentery ("bloody flux" epidemic as a major plot element.

We know roughly what one particular dinosaur sounded like.
(In fairness it would have been a bit of an anomoly; most other dinosaurs didn't have a hollow crest to blow air through.)

The ideal vet gives pet owners options for treatment. "Conservative treatment is subcutaneous fluids + antinausea meds. We recommend doing bloodwork to make sure we're not missing an underlying cause, but it's not strictly necessary." sort of stuff.

Dogs stays are more expensive than cat spays. I'm relying on my own experience with vet costs, too.
Overcharging is a potential sign that the vet clinic is owned by private equity. It's better for your pets, your pocketbook, and veterinary medicine overall, to avoid them. PE is fucking up vet care.

$900 for a single cat spay is very high, even with bloodwork + new patient appointment added in. I recommend shopping around for a different vet, if you can. Googling suggests the spay surgery should be $300-500 max, so $500-750 total, assuming the bloodwork is really necessary.

That does seem somewhat on the high side, unless something about the dog(?) means the surgery is more complicated than the norm.
Also surprised a shelter didn't do the spay beforehand, or at least make arrangements for you to get one cheaply.

Crocodiles are the outgroup for this phylogenetic tree, since they're the nearest living relative of birds.
Basically, if you're looking at the evolutionary history of a trait, you need an outgroup as a "control" for your dataset.
