Snobby gen-Xer near NYC. Music person, food, dogs, nyc, nj. He/him.
The washington post ran an absolutely poisonous account of his first campaign event.
One unfair aspect was multiple paragraphs about an attendee who gave him a hard time about Gaza, when it was obvious that Biden couldn't handle the same question.

Yep, older sister is now diagnosed on the spectrum, had a hellish time in school in the 80s and would have benefited immensely if parents and educators knew then what they know now.
Any smart educator from back in the day is going to remember people like this.

...and he was the chosen candidate after an abbreviated primary, due to covid and fear that a regular fight would somehow help Trump. A real primary *this* year would have been fair to voters and would have tested Biden at the appropriate moment.

The situation is especially galling because Democrats want to run on "the threat to Democracy." It's like we YEAH WE KNOW.

Don't forget that it goes the other way as well (with animals adapting to what plants they can consume.) The plant is much older than people, as far as I can tell from cursory googling.

I mean, go back in time and then other viable candidates can run in the primary. Maybe even the press takes Phillips seriously. That could (and should) have happened - it didn't have to be a coronation for an incumbent with a low approval rating.

Better to see and hear it for myself than to have to put up with the million forthcoming takes. I think that would be more maddening for me if I didn't see the actual thing.

Right, but imagine a president that could actually say the shit you think the moderators should say. Why the fuck don't we have that. (I mean, I feel like I basically understand why, because electoral politics are dominated by establishment types, but you'd think we would learn.)

The thing is, we've got this democratic process that one side insists they are the true defenders of. We could've used it to nominate someone who is both. The candidate on stage should be mopping the floor with Trump.

Pretty sure everybody is talking about the regular block, i.e
just blocking an account? It hides the exchange that caused disagreement which is indeed awesome.

The one thing I wish they'd give us is a speed limiter dial, that would set the maximum speed. Say if I'm driving in the city of New York, where there is a blanket speed limit of 25, I could set my car so that even if I mash down on the gas pedal it goes 25. This would also be useful when parking.

But, I did grow up in a cult-like protestant religion that basically told you "don't read books, other than ours" so maybe he really means it the first way, who knows.

Yeah, I initially read that as "Christians shouldn't listen to podcasts" which seemed to be an unnecessary prohibition. But you can read it as "listening to a podcast is not sufficient, what you need is a christian way of life" which is his larger point.

I mean seriously, since GP we've had a holding pattern of insane blowhards who flame out (Spitzer and Cuomo), replaced by their lieutenants who are at best vaguely lame (Paterson) or worse (Hochul). Pataki was not a psycho and he actually got himself elected, I think he beats all of them.

The crazy thing is how nostalgic it makes me for Pataki, who made green initiatives and the MTA a huge part of his brand. If the GOP could just float somebody who is an actual moderate in '26 NYC might just shrug and say what's the difference.

I mean, it's an opinion piece in the New York Times. It doesn't need to be thought through, it just needs to represent a position the Times would like to publish. Most of them fall flat in the slightest breeze.

Here's what my backup script looks like:
robocopy "i:\Music" "f:\Music" /mir
Where I: is the source, F: is the backup. /mir deletes shit in the backup that is no longer in the source, maybe don't use that at first because it could be catastrophic if you mix up source and destination.

I would say no as long as the students see a real photo / video of you early on, to demonstrate that you are a real person who really looks like that. If their *only* visual representation of their instructor is that illustration then yes that seems undesirable to me.
