I should point out, that, although in my opinion, I am technically very competent, I am having enormous difficulty getting employment. I cannot wait to any thing in my résumé that tends to make people think that I am incompetent, other than that I haven’t had a job since July of last year.

Many companies lose out on someone with so much experience in his field…a wealth of information because God forbid someone grew a year older. Craziness! Studies have found that older workers are usually the ones that can be counted on. Have you thought about looking into doing Consulting work??

1/ It alway comes back to money…can we afford to hire the guy with the resume which lays out years of hands on experience, training, education. 66 is still considered young! The potential company would also be getting a wealth of experience accumulated over years in the workforce.

1/I’m sorry to hear of your troubles with the job market. I’ve always thought someone of your stature, with vast knowledge of your field, probably highly trained and educated over the years plus the sheer amount of practical and Technical skills/knowledge you’ve collected over the years.
