the fuck of it is that PSU is a *poor* university. it's not a rich ivy or a land grant university, it's a broke-ass access university that's going through the same enrollment decline and loss of revenue everyone else is. adding this to the equation tangibly hurts the students on many diff levels.
2/2 It has one through one painful contraction after another for a decade. In the past, it suffered from awful leadership. It treated as the runt of the litter. Yet faculty & students here work miracles w few resources. The librarians, esp., heroes: they've built a great library but were attacked.
1/2 I've made this point on here a number of times. PSU gets less state $ per student than any other UofO campus even though it is in the locale that's most expensive to live in. It has a tiny endowment & very few endowed chairs w/ none in the humanities. It was founded for veterans, among others..
