Yup. As it is, I've reduced to half-time, which gives me around the same as someone on the minimum wage, but for only 2.5 days a week. Given what investments have been doing over the past 4 years, it's a pinch, but at least I get more time for gardening now!

This is all very interesting, and valid. However, I can't see equal attention being paid to relentlessly calling out Trump's lies and suitability for the role. For every story asking about Biden's suitability, can we have an equal one about Trump please? With equal prominence.

That was one of the motivations for me - power in an emergency. You don't get full power but yes, it will keep the fridge-freezer running, it'll keep the lights in the lounge going, the internet connection going, and enough power points to cook dinner and a heater on (not fulltime tho)

This is in Ōtautahi. The heat pump will drain the battery relatively quickly once the sun goes down. Battery hasn't hit 100% for a while.

While this is true, the amount of power generated in winter,even on sunny days,is much less. Solar is reducing my power bill by about a third at the mo. When installed in late Feb it was pretty much providing all my power and feeding back to the grid

Thank God for that! But a lesson all parties need to learn: if you govern in a way that makes life difficult for workers, they will turn to the far right for relief. Govern to ensure the most vulnerable are at least OK & and the far right won't flourish

Maybe. But from the Tories I've seen commenting on Sky it seems unlikely. They all seem to be saying they need to distance themselves from Reform. And anyway, isn't Farage like Peters? You might go into coalition with him once, but never again.

Yes, but also in the presidential race, you don't have to vote with the intention of voting FOR someone (Biden, for example). Instead you can vote AGAINST Trump. May seem like splitting hairs, but voting to keep someone OUT of office is just as valid as voting to put someone IN office.

I had forgotten about Westport. Still,I can't see everything being repaired again in Wairoa. I expect retreat to be happening very soon. It happened in Ōtautahi 13 years ago, but that was because of the quakes, not climate change

One thing I reckon would happen with a change to 4-year terms is when governments start becoming unpopular they'd end up with 8-year terms, rather than 9-year. At the moment, it generally takes 3 electoral cycles, but by the 8th year they're unpopular enough to be voted out then
