Yep... I used to be terrified of spiders. Decided I wanted to work on that fear and part of it was researching online and reading about them. I can't imagine the damage if I had gotten a bunch of shit like that. I'd still be cowering from them!!

What amazes me about the left side of the internet is how you can post literally agreeing with someone and they'll respond with vitriol and condescension. If you don't have the exact same opinion as them, you might as well be an alt right nazi. This is why I block politics nowadays.

It's bad enough fighting misinformation that harms wildlife. Convincing people that this bug or that bug aren't actually 'out to get you', that the venomous snakes will leave you alone if you leave them alone, that sharks aren't looking for people to eat. Now it's going to be so much harder.

Yeah, sometimes it takes actually seeing or experiencing it. I think what he went through himself after a couple bike accidents and losing my mom made him really understand how important mental health is!

Obviously there's more to it than just that- I'm indigenous, indigenous children were stolen from their parents en mass and adopted out to white families. But there's also positive cases too. Just like with anything else, and it's far more complex than a twitter-clone site will ever have room for.

So glad you were able to get dx and meds. They have helped me immensely to the point I'm a little angry about it (that I didn't have the chance to get help sooner). My dad was always the "get over it" guy to mental health, but he's learned from how I've been helped how real it is.

I'm so sorry :( That's awful. RIP to your bro ;-; It also doesn't help that ADHD is woefully under-diagnosed in AFAB people, along with Autism. Plus the stigma around medication is still so huge. My diagnosis and treatment took so long cuz i was treated as DRUG SEEKING!!!!?!?!?!

Adoption is cool. Don't tell a 10 year old child who's been raped by her stepdad that she can just adopt the child out. Don't tell the person who has high risk factors for pregnancy to just carry to term. They deserve the right to make choices for themselves and their health!

If a pregnant person that doesn't want an abortion wants to adopt that baby out because they do not want to be the parent, then absolutely it's a wonderful option for them. That does NOTHING for the people who are in danger of mental or physical health crises if they stay pregnant. Holy hell!

I had great parents. They still got frustrated at me and would call me lazy or a liar over things that were in fact ADHD symptoms. It left me with a lot of self worth problems. I can't imagine if they had literally BEATEN me... christ.

I decided to start taking my meds the same time as I give my dog hers... I never forget hers and set reminders, but i forget mine all the time. Its worked out great!

Yeah! I swear, I must smell or have some kinda something about me that they don't like. Gratefully I'm not allergic, and I've had worse stings and bites than a wasp (Tarantula / scorpion keeper, bound to get tagged sometime. OBT for me) But def working on the fear because it's done so good for me-

They're the one insect I'm still afraid of cuz I swear they hunt me down. Last time I was stung I stood SO STILL while it was one me and it just... flew up to my ear and stung me ;_; But I am working on it haha. I at least am no longer afraid of bees!

Yeah- I just finally was assigned a GP. where I live it's very hard to get one and mine retired without notifying me. Just called for an appt one day and was told she was gone (turned out to be good riddance anyway). New GP was able to assess and help me!

This happened to me when I reached out to my psych for ADHD testing. Told me they don't do that and that it would cost 5-10 k to get tested. Basically assumed I was looking to get drugs- I was. And I got them from my GP along with a diagnosis and my life has changed for the better.
