Just finished the audio book of We Will Not Be Saved by Nemonte Nenquimo. What a fabulous, fascinating and truthful account of life in the Amazon, environmental citizenship, and the frictions and injustices of 'civilisation' colliding with ancient culture.

The process goes like this:
You apply and the application is peer reviewed.
A panel uses the reviews to longlist candidates who are then interviewed ~June.
The shortlisted applicants then have a summer of fun creating a film and article.
The awards are dished out in November.

Happy New Year.
Back to work tomorrow. Covid #2 wiped out my last week of work and my week 'off' has been a lot of travelling, not sleeping and slowly recovering.I am really quite dreading the return to work as I've no idea how to regain that lost time.

21 councils have declared a #Motion4TheOcean! Well done Cornwall Council! I am so proud to see this gather speed and the findings of my marine citizenship PhD getting put into action in local government. Well done to my fellow co-authors Emily and Nic, and the LGA Coastal SIG and OCT for support.

We just need it to be one of the political goals and then the effort would go into it. I'm afraid that's on the public!

Been a very long time indeed since I did a first post on something. Where to begin? Ocean connections and good decision-making are my bag. I research marine citizenship, marine identity, marine governance. I also get my hands dirty as a port commissioner and as Vice Chair of my local IFCA.
