Roy Kilgard mentioned an exercise they can do in the NE because of proximity - students at multiple institutions' campus observatories look at JWST simultaneously and get its parallax distance - math a bit eased because Earth's curvature is a small angle over few hundred km. (Hmm - GA-AL?)
