Let me just state how incredibly wrong this sentiment is, especially on today of all days. A day that, yes, is often seen about celebrating the US, but is more fundamentally about celebrating the right of self-determination, a right that can only be guaranteed by true and active democracy. (3/)

There are a LOT of people (that author included) who do not want other people to have that right, and it is an increasingly loud force in the world today. This is why it is so important to vote in any and all of your elections, up and down the ticket, regardless... (4/)
