Instead, the movie seems so absolutely committed to portraying a lead character with dissociated dysphoria, that Owen is more or less a flat line from beginning to end. So at the end, TV Glow felt like it leaned more on my own trans experience to cover Owens part of the Isabel/Tara/Maddy dynamic.

Anyways, I still love the movie (+ soundtrack and score) and saw it twice. But that part, I haven't figured out if my assumptions are wrong or what. (bonus ❤️ for Brigette Lundy-Paine and her planetarium monologue)
