and while I believe engagement and fact-checking and sharing is important, I think it also opens the door for emotional harm because we’ve been taught to prioritize adding to the feed over personal wellness and that stress is fertile land for trolls.

I think we’re conditioned to do this having spent the last couple decades on social media where we are constantly encouraged to respond. Also, with so many news shows becoming entertainment and speculation, we’ve also been taught it’s our job to find facts and share that or we’re “bad” citizens.

Siri has been updated on my phone, and now when I say "Thank you!" after she helps me do something on my phone, she says "You're welcome!" in this happy voice, and it surprised me how much that response brightened my mood.

There is a bird out here shouting some crazy conspiracy theories and after like five minutes, all these other birds are yelling “omg stop it!” And the bird tried to chirp again and the other birds were like “NO” and now they’re all yelling at once and now I understand why that app had a bird logo.

I can tell I need a break when I wanna cry and take a nap.
I honestly don’t push through anymore when I need a break because if I ignore cues it usually ends in my body creating a circumstance where I must stop and it takes so much longer to recover than it would to get proper rest. #kidlitart

Same. I had help with mine! We’re only human, we can’t think of everything ourselves. Organization is definitely a learned skill in my opinion and somewhere people got the the idea we should just know how to do all this naturally, which is unrealistic to me.

A home binder is amazing! My mom taught me to use one. She’s got all her appliance manuals and warranties with servicing notes in there with hers. It’s so useful when stuff happens. Also in the binder are numbers for plumber, electrician, etc…

Oh yeah, thats a tricky one. I save the boxes so I have a clear reference when buying replacements! And then I write on the box where the lightbulbs go in the house and how many I need. That goes in my home binder next to batteries information.

I don't think you're doing it wrong. I took a couple years off and just recently came back to it. It can be very easy to get caught up in events and learning and feel like you're doing the work except for spending time on your book :) It's not going anywhere if you decide to return. #kidlitchat

I like SCBWI as well. I enjoyed going to the New York winter conferences and meeting awesome online friends like you in person! Our regional chapter is darn nice as well with monthly meet ups and virtual events.
