Glad I made a proof of a new mini comic. There were two pages out of the eight, whose colours were darker. Looked back at the original files and realised it was because I used two ways to export the files from Procreate. Most pages were saved as straight png and the two odd ones as png pages.

Watching a TNG episode last night where Geordi and Data just decide to do an experiment on him that could potentially fry his brain … and makes me love older Trek more. No supervisors weighing in with caution or controlling what they do, layers of approval, etc.

Why is AI taking creative jobs and not menial ones? I’m starting to think consciousness is not about reaching higher levels of intelligence but rather higher levels of creativity. For better or worse the real goal for AI is increased creativity.

I use Hi-res bit mapped tifs for line art (1200dpi) so I had to change settings so there was no compression. Occasionally I gat a bug in the export where jagged lines appear on an image, but usually just export it again.

After putting together a couple of books using Affinity Publisher, I think I have the export settings down. Sharing here in case it can help anyone (or someone can point out how wrong I am).

Ok so it’s started coming together and looks better than I expected. This always happens with colouring, it’s not as straightforward as other stages for me.

Uggh colouring is so difficult for me. I never start form a place of this makes sense but rather I’ll keep adding colours and changing the until it looks right.

For real though. Let’s make zines again and send them to each other. Keep them within the standard lettermail size and weight for more accessible postage. 6-7 letter size pages folded is in the range.

I’ve always liked the idea of a standard format of mini comic in terms of size and page count. Similar to how a vinyl record is a certain size and can fit a certain amount of music on it.

TL;DR 1-Open Apple Pages and create a new file 2-Make it a Page layout doc. 3-Place you artwork/comic pages as needed. 4-Export as a fixed layout epub (File / Export / epub). 5-ePub file is now ready to be uploaded to online distribution platforms.

I think I figured it out but will have to convert from freedom units to metric. Looks like max weight is 99gms (3-1/2 oz) Canada is half that.

Can any US friends tell me what the basic letter mail costs are and what’s the maximum weight and size. For example in Canada it’s up to 50gms and 245 mm x 156 mm x 5 mm (9.6 inches x 6.1 inches x 0.2 inches)

I can’t find copy paper that’s muddy enough for me. Everything’s so bright in North America. Had the idea to add a 5% layer of grey but not convinced it does the trick.
