Yeah, I thought my commute to work was like a 20-minute bus ride. The irony is that it probably would be with the construction, and it’s like 6 stops. Lol

… so my concept of distance around HRM was off by a factor of 10 and not in a favourable way. I thought that part of Dartmouth was like living in London and commuting to Toronto every day. I did London-Sarnia a few times a week and it killed me.

See? Other people are far more knowledgeable about that side of the pond than I am. Lol. Because I knew I wasn’t moving my car here and wasn’t interested in a 1-hr bus commute I needed to be on the peninsula so I never even considered Dartmouth. Plus my map was WILDLY INCORRECT by scale, …

I mean, I like both of those things. But…not with sorbet. Maybe after sorbet. Or before sorbet. But not WITH sorbet.

Oh, those are two clear and opposite directions. Lol. And from IKEA-ish, hospitals on the peninsula may almost be easier to get to than Dartmouth Gen. But I also…don’t live on The Dark Side for a reason. lol.

The building I was looking to move to has paid parking (as in, you buy a parking spot and use it for the duration of your residency in the building) and it was $50,000 for a spot. Most of the units were purchased condos; no option of a monthly spot.

So Dartmouth way out on the other side of the city? Lower rent, but still highly competitive because it’s on a bus route directly onto the peninsula. That area is a car-required area of the HRM…check how much parking is in the building (mine is $175/month for residents, $300/mo for non-residents)

I pay a mind-numbing amount in rent for a bachelor (and it’s now way more than I pay because I’m protected with a rent cap) but I have a great view, groceries across the street, and I can walk to work. That’s the trade-off I made and I’m happy with it. Other people spend hours on a bus or in a car

VERY difficult. Start with big rental companies (Killam, Templeton, 444rent, capreit, northwest, etc), send out DOZENS of apartment applications, be prepared to compromise: you will either be close to work or have cheap rent, not both. Make sure it’s a yearly lease, NOT fixed term. Parking is $$$$$$

D’oh. Fitz and the Tantrums are playing tonight and I forgot so I’m already in my PJs. Ah, well. Maybe next year I’ll be the cool kid singing along outside of the ticketed area 😂 maybe I’ll be lucky and the wind will blow in the direction of my apartment and I can sing along on my balcony…

And if you can eat it out of a bowl instead of on a stick, it must be health food. I don’t make up the rules.

I'm tempted to have sorbet for dinner. It's fruit n stuff. Has vitamins. It even has some fiber.
Well, you have me convinced. Sorbet is health food. 🍨

And now I'm giggling while packing my stuff up to go home. 🧶

Square card readers are still free, aren't they? lol.
Can you imagine a contractor whipping one of those out of their back pocket like they make candles at a farmer's market?
"roof's done, you may see a few nails wash off in the first big rain, that'll be $6,000 minus the deposit. Just tap here"

would not, but only because I don't eat beef (it's yucky). But if they somehow put that in a chicken burger (kinda like molé chicken with some 'shmallo?) I'd try it.

A good account to pre-emptively block! I friggin hate it when people steal photos. I hate it even more when it's a blue-check account on The Other Place because they can actually monetize stealing your shit.

Are you currently a Dean, AVP, or another position of leadership & are thinking of making the jump to President? How about at a 220-year-old university that is primarily undergraduate but also has professional business (MBA, MBAN) & other grad (MA, MSc, PhD) programs?

Today’s Thrifty Bits: another Banana Republic dress that retailed for $209 (found one online new with tags) and I got it for $10. It’s one of my thrifted dresses for fancier occasions (and I have A Meeting today…). Thrifted necklace (no maker’s mark), earrings from Splurge!

there is a 20-something (I think BARELY 20-something) young man that is trying to figure out how old I am to decide if I'm worth flirting with in DMs.
Dylan, I'm not worth it. I'm twice your age. Possibly older than your mom. Stop.

After a while I think everyone would just get along (and maybe turn on me in the process). Sure, there would be fighting. But once everyone was full (had eaten a few rats to knock them down a few notches), I think we'd all just lounge around wherever I was being held hostage with a bunch of animals

I now have music playing quite loudly (luckily I'm the only person in this hallway & no one is around the corner today...) because I do NOT want to hear about your credit card debt, bud
