Chomsky has never once in his life suggested that actors like Russia, Iran, NK, Hezbollah, etc. are the good guys. He simply believes his role as a public figure is to focus on our sins and our mistakes and that there are plenty of others doing the job of calling out our enemies.

There's nothing for him to take back. He said reports at the time of the killings were coming from untrustworthy sources and thus likely exaggerated. That was the correct position at the time. His position on Ukraine is and always has been that Russia's invasion is a "criminal act".
