Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I don't pretend to be an expert, but it seems unlikely to me that it would have a drastic reduction in pasture - in fact I'd heard that trees improve soil quality and water retention?

Shade trees actually take up a lot of pasture, I was a farm-girl, now own 10acres, the choice of tree matters, but also wind tolerance, root depth/needs etc and of course possible poison. crowding on a hot windless day and during winter bog that brings disease etc. Cattle also refuse tree shade
