the end of Chevron deference is another manifestation of the fact that the Roberts Court doesn’t view itself as part of the constitutional order as much as lording over it

The world at the moment seems irredeemably doomed due to self-inflicted wounds from all sides. I've seen so many intelligent people turn inwards, like a slow slip back into the dark ages...

Feels like the world as we know it is over if Trump is re-elected, yet nobody really seems to care enough to prevent it from happening. Guess it's no different to the climate crisis in that sense... but still hard to accept

This is the world’s largest wind turbine: Goldwind’s GWH252-16MW intelligent wind turbine has a rotor diameter of 252m. It also has a swept area of around 50,000 sq – equivalent of seven standard football pitches. The turbine’s hub is 146m high – that’s as tall as a 50-story building.

Would you prefer an old man, or a convicted felon bankrupt coup-attempting lying old man? Amazing to me that this is the best that the world's most powerful country has to offer.

NEW: Agriculture Minister Todd McClay said the methane targets will be changed to align with the "no addition warming" principle, which the Climate Commission has warned will lead to “higher emissions and an increased amount of warming than the current target”.

While I agree with you, I also think there's something to be said for very well-off people paying very low amounts of tax to be 'giving back', frequently.

New: There is “limited evidence” that the Government’s chosen approach to preventing agriculture from entering the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS) will be effective, officials at the Ministry for the Environment and the Treasury told ministers.

Quoted $650 for a 2-hour job to replace some rubber seals on two skylights. The job can be done from inside the house. Why be a lawyer when you can earn $300/hour maintaining skylights? 🙄

I remember as a kid, the sci-fi future was robots doing all the menial tasks, with humans on a UBI doing art and other creative endeavours. How did we end up flipping that on its head?

I feel like this is probably similar to the "radiation bad" but "air pollution meh" phenomenon regarding power generation. Some things are visceral triggers for human psychology?

Interesting. Thanks for the reply. I don't pretend to be an expert, but it seems unlikely to me that it would have a drastic reduction in pasture - in fact I'd heard that trees improve soil quality and water retention?

I often wonder how it's legal to provide zero shade or shelter for farm animals - yet you see it literally dozens of times per hour when driving through New Zealand's countryside. Animal cruelty is in our blood here

If only we had detailed information telling us the climate is changing far faster than any time in human history... ...and if only we had an unambiguous physical explanation for why those changes have occurred... ...then some politicians would still deny any problem exists.

Either the Government doesn't actually believe repealing the oil and gas ban will lead to new drilling for fossil fuels, or it has no intention of fulfilling its climate commitments – or it simply doesn't believe in climate science.
