I don’t know. I’m a 65-year old lifelong Democrat who thinks Biden has been a damn good president to whom no better alternative currently exists. Yes, if we could turn back the clock it might have been better for him to settle for one term, but that’s not an option and panic isn’t a plan.

Baude has a BS in math and a law degree. Like most law professors he is trained for nothing and an expert in nothing. His “scholarship” is vetted, if you can call it that, only by student-editors of law reviews. His op-eds get even weaker scrutiny. Legal scholarship is in large part a scam.

My grandfather was a draft dodger from the Tsar’s army. He lived a productive and law-abiding life and raised three sons who served this country in WW2. Immigrants built this country. We need them to continue to do so.

Not a tax lawyer but my understanding is that gift taxes are payable by the donor, not the recipient. On the other hand, if you Thomas’ receipts were payments for services rendered, then they would be income taxable to him.

How about freedom AND prosperity? It’s always seemed to me that the most effective way to ensure peace between a Palestinian state and Israel is to make sure that the Palestinian state is affluent. Between the Israelis, the Americans, and the Gulf States there is plenty of money and know-how.

For me (a Jew), "from the river to the sea" isn't 1/10 (make it 1/100) as offensive as this false equivalency. One statement might, if you squint at it the right way, express a desire to eliminate Israel as an ethno-state. The other cynically uses a tragedy to make a cheap reactionary point.

My folks are gone, too, and I can’t say how they would have reacted to this, either. Team Israel was pretty bred in the bone for them, but that’s largely because “Israel” signified a set of values that was consistent with their perception of Judaism.
