Right, that's why I was referencing the US in particular here. It's interesting the idea that cats and dogs have ascended to this! I feel like it's slightly different in that we infantilize them much more....it's FEELS different I'm trying to figure out why.

I think for cats at least the reverence is stronger than the derpiness. And even derp-appreciation becomes a part of the reverence. For dogs, yeah, it's way more condescending. I think :) But of course I'm not sure! We should run a study or somethin!
