In addition to attacks on a children's hospital, on June 9 Al Fashir’s last functioning hospital was forced to close when RSF troops ransacked it. We geolocated photos of the aftermath at the Hospital here 13.609335, 25.358040.

We also used satellite imagery and NASA FIRMS data to confirm evidence of burning of areas close to the city. Here a town four kilometres from Al Fashir, Talbedeya, was badly burnt in a fire on May 26th.

Sudan’s ministry of health reported that 38 people were killed and 280 were injured in the fighting in this area of El Fasher over the course of two days. NASA FIRMS data shows an increase in heat signals in the same region as the video was filmed, across May 10-13th.

We geolocated the video to approximately around 13.621399, 25.380166, just off Al Fashir’s main highway located in a densely populated area. It was filmed between 12:30 -1:30 on May 13 according to Suncalc data.

On May 13, a video was shared on the RSF’s X channel showing a man in an RSF uniform using what appears to be a Kornet missile atop a Toyota. This is a Russian-made portable anti-tank missile and has a roughly five-kilometre firing range. x.com/RapidSupport...

Sudanese Political Analyst Kholood Khair told Bellingat that although the SAF is receiving weapons through airdrops in Al Fashir it is unlikely to be enough to repel the well armed RSF forces and stop them from taking the city.

Beam Reports outlines that Al Fashir is considered a strategic military location because it’s near the southwestern border to Chad. The RSF has weapons supply lines from Libya through Chad. It's also considered the only entrance for humanitarian aid through Port Sudan.
