Sir Patrick Valance as Science Minister and Richard Hermer KC as Attorney General certainly makes it look like Starmer wants people with actual experience in specific roles. But appointing James Timpson as minister of state for prisons, parole and probation is a *superb* appointment.

For anyone who doesn't know, James Timpson is the CEO of the Timpson Group. He's the son of the founder of the chain, John Timpson who is a great example of a philanthropist actually walking the walk.
