There would certainly be prolonged negotiations, but on the how, not the what. The ability and will for war in NI is much diminished.

In which case, what do you imagine would happen in the event of a border poll being carried by 50% +1?

I'm afraid this is utterly wrong. No supermajority is required and no second referendum, either. One vote, a simple majority required, and it will happen at some point in the next 30 years or so.

I'm not one for poetry but this one from Billy Mills tempts me...no, convinces me, to read the ones he mentions.

It seems like a relatively uncontroversial position, but it has gotten me into trouble from time to time.

I think it's a great idea; I'm just under no illusions about why we need it.

And so we can expect big business to row in behind the notion of a universal basic income, not from any altruistic motivation, but purely to retain a market from which they can extract yet more wealth. Another instance of capitalism's dependence on the state. 3/3

This will, in the short term serve to accelerate the concentration of wealth in ever fewer hands, and in the medium to long term result in a situation where businesses will no longer be able to sell their products and services because nobody has the money to pay for them. 2/3

The inexorable logic of technological 'advance', including AI (or artificial stupidity, as I prefer) is to render redundant all but an elite workforce, and some low-paid service workers were automation would be more expensive. 1/3

For anyone who noticed, yesterday my blog was flagged by the AutomaTTic automated anti-spam controls and suspended. To be fair, their support people lifted the suspension within a few hours. So I'm back for all your poetry book review needs. :-)
