This was a bomb waiting to go off. We desperately need to revamp our databases as this is unsustainable 'we rigorously assess data within the global plant trait database, TRY...for one trait ~3/4 of data in TRY either lacked applicability or traceability' onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... 🧪🌎

Importantly, this paper suggests best practices for data "Curators" of big ecological databases. However, we really don't have many dedicated curators (little funding for curation,open database building, few incentives etc.) we need a community solution - see www.nature.com/articles/s41... 🧪🌎
