This is so important. I stress to new grad students that they are no longer learning facts. They are now learning *how* we know facts to be true (controls, etc) and generating new facts. ‼️Critical thinking and discovery are exactly what AI cannot do. ‼️

As I explain here, climate change is not only loading the weather dice against us, it's also replacing some of the numbers with extra 6's and even some 7s and an 8 -- making heatwaves more dangerous, heavy downpours more frequent, droughts longer and stronger, hurricanes intensify faster, and more.

Any Github Actions gurus here? For a mac build, I use homebrew to install dependencies, and have not had issues. Apparently brew now installs to /opt/homebrew/ rather than /usr/local, and configure cannot find them. I've tried appending $GITHUB_PATH, with no success... (눈_눈)

Your periodic reminder that calling aviation biofuels "sustainable aviation fuels" does not magically make those biofuels sustainable. E.g., if the US were to reach its stated goal of 35B gallons of SAF using ethanol, this would require 114M acres of corn, or ***120%*** of current US corn acreage.

I agree overall. One problem is that people need to unlearn Xitter habits; e.g., liking a post doesn't really boost engagement since there's no algorithm–people actually have to engage with a post (quote post, repost, or respond) to boost a post.
