Driver screeches to a halt. I v-point to my eyes and then him. He looks up and sees a dad with a mustache, sizes up the risk, and does the right thing and drives on. Our conversation would have been very brief and direct, had he pursued it. Why the hell is he on the phone when his car has an iMax?

Two days ago, I was walking my son, dog, and four other neighborhood kids to a neighborhood park. Tesla Model S driver floors it going 20 over passing us very closely. Look into the cabin driver is simultaneously fiddling with his phone. I gesture a downward 'hang-loose' i.e. hang up the phone...

The universal reaction from the community hasn't been against the driver/child killer (who remains unconvicted), nor the organizer of the mid-November Xmas parade, but the city leaders. This vitriol against the city spans both urban and conservative. How the hell did we become pro-crush-children?

As a dog owner who goes on extended walks with my leashed companion. I've been known to give my laissez-faire off-leash counterparts plenty of unsolicited advice. What's with folks who go to dog parks and approach the park gate unleashed? That's the most chaotic pace to have an unleashed dog.

Last night my wife yielded to two pedestrians in a crosswalk in Durham, NC. Having been a bus/pedestrian commuter in downtown Durham for the last seven years. That is the first time I've ever seen another motorist do that. The people in the crosswalk were confused.
