But then that puts other people in the line of fire while the actual original criticisms....weren't truly addressed from an honest place. They're even still making movies that present cool or capable women like that's a special exception. Like "wow a girl can fight??? What'll they think of next!"

So you have media suddenly swinging in a TOO desexualized inoffensive white Disney direction, creepy shitheads using that as proof "feminism ruined everything," and the media brands patting themselves on the back that they must be doing the right thing if they're pissing off Those Guys

Like I just don't know anyone who ever thought the problem with female characters was actually just "sexy is problematic" but that's what detached media execs heard, and also what the chuds heard, and they both feed each other.

This hits on something that has been bothering me, thanks. It's hard to express how off this type of makeover can feel without sounding like a chud. But it's like some current media just does not actually understand what the issue ever even was.

Really underlines that what makes a character sexy is often not just that the designer wants to bone them. Sexy crosses over just that much with aesthetically interesting and cool, too
