I thought that was just a 996 issue, but some quick research reveals that it's not. And the car is a MY2002. Hmm.

Yeah the 2.7s are prone, so are the 3.2s but I don’t remember what the year was (I think it was ‘02 or ‘03) where they simplified the 3.2 and it became much more reliable than before Bore scoring is an issue though The early 2.5 is supposed to be most reliable. The 3.2 delivers better MPGs though…
