A reason people dislike liberal wonks and wonk-adjacent people is there comes a point where "this is the best these assholes are going to give us right now" turns to "well this is just reality and if you simply got more invested in the process you'd stop complaining about democrats"
Wow I hadn't realized it was literally "don't be invested in the outcome, learn to enjoy the process" until just now, but you're absolutely spot-on. They're really talking about political engagement like I'm trying to learn watercolors
i think the problem with wonks is, "we can't fix the system, because even though it's harmful, i sacrificed my principles to gain power. i don't want to give up that power, because i like power, and i've become the sort of person who can sacrifice principles for power, you should try it too"
We lost the Wonk Mandate when people started acting like āhereās what Group X thinks and hereās how theyād like you to see themā was wonkery.
"Please disregard any alternative horizons to this one. We built an Amazon warehouse on it. You can get treats. Please do not inquire as to who is in the Warehouse and what happens just focus on this horizon"
- I don't know the wonks, I guess. Basically
