COan. Cannabis regulatory analyst, a poorly-fit Lutheran, 2x B1G grad (Go Blue, Ski-U-Mah!). Can't stop thinking about sports, religion, history, weed, and beans.

One of my biggest/fussiest gripes is that the whole post-debate argument has been done on the basis of “media optics” which might be the most formless + subjective + circular arguments possible. Totally unverifiable, nigh useless.

I think anyone making pronouncements about a campaign primarily based on media is already in the goofball/soap-opera fan territory. All the important things a campaign has done (or not) at this point are gonna be infrastructural/strategic, imo, and those are hard to suss out, and def not thru press

F’real, one of the most piquant examples of a moral crisis that *loads* of people can find relevant.

Of all the sects of Christianity, arguably Lutheranism writ large had the most disastrous 20th century (silver medal to Rome, imo), and yet, AND YET, some of the most courageous and honest anti-fascists arose from the community. Feels like the crowd I’m from, and called to.

Had someone ask what I mean by “poorly fit Lutheran”, and the short version is that most of the “modern” Christian intellectuals I most personally admire and identify with are Lutheran dissidents: Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Paul Tillich, Dorothee Sölle, even Dag Hammarskjöld.

One of those small business ideas I have (besides opening up a dispensary/coffee shop in Duluth) is becoming a Midwest distributor for New Mexican foods.

I *think* Sadie’s salsa might be in some co-ops? The two that seem to get distribution outside the state are El Pinto and Sadie’s. I genuinely don’t know why there isn’t better spread, there’s gotta be at least 15k people in the Twin Cities that would be steady consumer of an excellent salsa.

For some reason in my (dumb) mind, I think the twins at El Pinto are kinda odd and therefore I can handle their hot salsa, and it is not true, those boys send me to the canvas

About every 3-4 months I decide that I’m About It, and ready to take on a hot-level New Mexican salsa, and every time the NM salsa kicks my ass.

I will stop making fun of Texas politics as soon as they stop sending 10+ pickup trucks with seditious flags to every CO mountain town for the 4th of July. Just saw two “Appeal To Heaven” assholes on one town block in BV.

Back at the best sandwich shop in the state. This place is already exploding, but we are like one NYT or Eater coverage from it being on the map

haha no, this is a meme/shitpost format, but my spicy + earnest take is that in the future, when the stigma has receded, we’ll need to have some real convos about weed as a PED for certain activities (endurance running, etc)

His QBP rate (Quoted By Pastors) is miserable, and his voice is like a Jokic-level weird, but his hit rate was good, and inspired a generation of Derek Webb types in the 90s

For about 5 years btwn the 70s and early 80s Bob Dylan became the greatest contemporary Christian artist of all time, and then dipped.

One small perk of being a “Shot Of Love”/Christian Bob Dylan Is Good, Actually person is that the scorn of man no longer fazes you.

People talk about how the world will need to reduce its population by a few billion when all evidence shows that the right ~10,000 people disappearing would solve many of the issues

Yup. TBH, I think there are probably only 25-50 people who are intentional chaos agents, and then about 100k ppl whose emotions are being played like a banjo because they think they’re the savvy ones.

I get why people aren’t going to trust a hunch or an intuition, but folks gotta realize that successful ratfuckings are immediately appealing to a lot of people. There was a whole host of people who wanted to doubt John Kerry’s war record, just like ppl who want Biden to be senescent.

I’ve been dancing around it, but I’ll say it plain: clarifying that I don’t like him, the push to have Biden drop out sends up the most red flags of any campaign moment since Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, and actually I worked on Swift Boating!

Hah! I used to go visit my mom + stepdad in Tampa in the 90s (they were in the Tampa Chabad community) and I have some soft spots for the fireworks and snorkeling, but calling mid-Florida “walkable” is bonkers to me.
