I think it’s more a whole town than a single person, but the story of the people who are finding refuge as the town gets Weird and the people trying to end the process could get interesting

I may have just sort-of described The City We Became by Jemison. But either of the two sides don’t need to be villains. Those who are more comfortable with Weird in a weird town and those who hide in a the normalcy of a Normal town? Weird v Differently Weird? Out v closeted?
