I don't think I've met the father but I think of him as a victim as well simply because of the hopeless and powerless feeling he must have been experiencing during the whole situation. Obv it's quite different but I know I'd be messed up from it.

I met this family several years ago when they were going to the same school as my kids. They were always extremely friendly and seemed like really good people. It was a shock when this happened and it affected my kids too. Hopefully the survivors have been able to move forward

Dude. Have you witnessed any of the dozens - maybe hundreds - of cases involving suppressed evidence and appeals over the years? The fact that an appeals court declined to address it really has very little bearing on the possibility that he's innocent.

Correct. I visited last month and was seeing friends all over the city while staying at an airport hotel. I wasn't familiar with the transit and always in a bit of a rush. Hopping from York to GreekTown to downtown & back to the airport etc. I was spending $200+ per day in cabs and ubers

I think somebody saw a chance take someone's $$ while also rebooking the room and getting a gold star from mgmt. I remember another scene in Toronto where a guy was trying to check in and they wouldn't let him because he didn't have enough on his ATM card for the security deposit.

I'm not mentioning the chain because they ALL handle it the same way. I was recently trying to book a hotel for a friend who didn't have a credit card. It took 3 hours to find a single spot in the city that would take a reservation without a credit card and paying cash. And it was dodgy. 5/

She asked if she could cancel and he could pay cash. Nope. Only credit cards. Since it was after 4pm, they were charging her card for the room anyway! They told him if he didn't have a room he couldn't stay in the lobby and kicked him out with his bags. He ended up going to a McDonald's 4/

Her flight got delayed. His didn't. He went to the hotel. The hotel required her credit card for him to check in. So he waited on the lobby couch. Then her flight got cancelled later on. She called the hotel and was willing to send a signed form. No dice. They need to see the card. 3/

This recently happened to a friend but similar shit has happened to me. She was meeting her 18-year-old son in Miami. They were flying in from different places. She's in the Caribbean and he was at school in Canada. She reserved a room at a chain hotel and gave her credit card. 2/

I have 2 small (<= 20lbs) dogs that are no risk to anyone, and I still won't take them to an off-leash park because in my mind they are just not trained well enough to behave. I don't understand the mindset of people who don't care about this.
