Today would be a good day for the media to ask leading Republicans whether they agree with Trump's repeated statements that immigration is "poisoning the blood of our country," language that evokes Adolf Hitler.

There is certainly a bit of people talking past one another about immigration. Democrats & the media use “the border” as shorthand for what are essentially administrative issues relating to regulating surges of migrants. Republicans are most upset by nonwhite immigration. Trump makes this clear.
