NEW: Ford’s CEO tells the truth, that the automaker needs a “radical change.”
“We are just in love with these monster vehicles. We have to start to get back in love with smaller vehicles. It’s super important for our society and for EV adoption.”
One of my first interactions on here was with the ceo of ford.
I shared my displeasure with the Lightning and how it would be better used as Ebike batteries
About time an auto exec acknowledged the basic physics involved.
Moving an object from rest, accelerating & braking it.
The more mass it has, the greater the energy expenditure, irrespective of power source, EV or ICE.
Monster trucks are the height of energy inefficiency (embedded & kinetic).
I don't think this is so good, smaller vehicles mean smaller space inside, which means people who need that space are going to suffer.
I'm tall, it's not fun to sit hunched over in an uber and have to worry you suffer a neck injury or a brain injury due to potholes. Nor is struggling with seatbelt.
Smaller, more energy efficient vehicles are a good thing, but I hate to tell them we really need to move towards public transit.
Personal vehicles will always have their uses, but our cities need to be redesigned to be more friendly to pedestrians and public transit.
Ford also purchased the abandoned train station in Detroit as a new tech hub.
It’s a train station that the auto industry helped kill. The auto industry killed Detroit by then moving factories out to other countries. Then they killed sedans with huge trucks.
I struggle to believe Ford execs now.
