It's somehow not enough for authors to pay a fee and hand over manuscript IPR to publish, and for reviewers to work for free, and for the journal to paywall unless you pay ANOTHER fee. We also have to be part-time datastore caretakers forever, and do it in an easily accessible way?

Pushback against this kind of policy is long overdue, imo. If I'm supposed to store and maintain and distribute data for an article I'm paying to publish, forever, it's on the journal to pay for the cost of it and I can quote them a rate for my time and the cost of the storage.
