I think; just unfamiliar format feeling focusing on combat (despite skill tests as a cool non combat addition), some “feel” of being for younger gamers (many D&D players want to be taken seriously), getting rid of stuff (Dragon Magazine, the Great Wheel etc), semi mandated map based play. (1/2)

And all coming as the “this is officially D&D now” really grated on people’s nerves. To the extent it was easy to miss this was a great game. I’m RIDICULOUSLY happy to now know someone else who played and liked d6 Star Wars!
