I just remembered that she was the one who handled burial arrangements in a national cemetery so perhaps the VA already had record of her as next of kin from that, but we will contact them and see.

I believe there is a chance we avoided the fire as he was still in the military well after 1960. 🤞 It's my understanding that it was mainly Army discharged from 1912-1960.

I mean at least she was doing something but I KNOW. I also hold out some minor hope for better air quality standards (I'm US based so that pipe dream is extremely election dependent). But hope can be super hard sometimes.

For NARA, what is necessary to prove next of kin?? My great uncle and great aunt died with no children but my mother was their heir/executor etc. Would she have to prove anything to request his records? He was Navy.

If I want more info on my grandfather's Army service - what's my best source? Is Fold3 where it's at? Somewhere else?

He's career Army - enlisted posted WWII (Navy for WWII) after that officer training school/jump school - paratrooper.
Lt Colonel at retirement.

The area where my parents live commissioned artists to decorate life-size fiberglass oxen and they are my son's favorite thing. We've seen a lot of fancy oxen is what I'm saying. And yours are glorious.

Last year on vacation my kids built the most amazing sand castle set up with this kid and his dad. We have just determined that they are here, again, on the beach. Kids are going to have A BLAST once the tide goes out a bit! Crazy that we are all here at the same time! None of us are from here!

She was in Brewster for a few years at the start but then in Falmouth for at least 47. Falmouth is MUCH better for medical because they have the hospital and easier travel up to Boston but yeah, options are slim for so many things!!

I went from Windsor to Wales to London this year via train and including an absolute mess up where I'd bought tickets for THE WRONG DAY and it was STILL super easy and everyone was beyond helpful. Like staff are available and help! There are occasional strikes but usually announced in advance.

Been doing some research for #52ancestors PLANES and I'm just grateful for all the people out there with their niche interests that are willing to help.

Sent a message on a plane website to try figure out a specific airplane and they were SO helpful and able to confirm my research!!
