Retired techie spends her days playing stringed instruments. Cat and dog lover. Black Lives Matter and so do LGBTQ+
Exactly. I timed my retirement very carefully: I was 65 & could get on Medicare & my somewhat younger husband would have COBRA until he was 65. I was in so much pain. I was already officially disabled. Had I retired at 62, I would be better off. Worked just for health benefits the last few years.

Oo, and have you ever seen an old Italian crucifix? They had lots of extra space surrounding Jesus’ body so they could show all sorts of things: the rooster for the cock crow, skulls for Adam, women at the cross, etc.

These look like longer versions of triptyches, three connected painted panels such as these detailing three connected events. In illiterate Europe, churches relied on visuals like this for catechism.

I guess we’re redefining the word “special.”

It’s pretty rich that the writers of the Project 2025 Mandate say that we have rejected second-class citizenship for women when they also want to monitor women’s periods. I hope they also monitor men’s ejaculations in their pregnancy checks.

I am only on p. 48 (of 920) in #Project2025. One of the things that makes it so difficult to read is the hypocritical tone taken throughout. They write to poor working people as if they were poor working people. And it’s full of gems like this: did you know that “wokeism” = slavery?

Agreed. I just finished the book billed as Francesca’s story. It’s much more focused on him than her. I found it disappointing and inferior to the earlier books.

If they would just asked, I would have gladly donated some. In peri menopause my body stopped making progesterone but cranked out the estrogen. The result was a never-ending period. I had to take hormones for that. This is what you get from not teaching sex ed/human biology

Our old parish priest, Fr. Jim Mifsud of beloved memory, never condemned a woman who had an abortion. He was all about the love of God. We had no kneelers because he said God wanted us on our feet as his friends. I miss him.

They’re in the Catholic churches in your area, too. Abortion is the only thing these people care about. And I say that as a cradle Catholic who still goes every Sunday.

I did. What they did with the three witches is amazing. I also liked the interpretation of Lady Macbeth. You got the feeling she was just one step over from becoming a witch. The Much Ado About Nothing was the production that really knocked my socks off.

I’m having a heated discussion on FB w/ a former classmate who says my #Project2025 posts are fear-mongering and “that’ll never happen, the Constitution won’t permit it.” I suspect she’s a Republican and deaf to the message. She’s very Catholic & shares mostly devotional stuff.

She was a good Attorney General for California. That’s why I voted for her for the senate. She had some good moments in the senate which made the news. I don’t understand why she is viewed the way she is now.

Belinda is teased by kids for being fat. Her mom talks to her about various flowers and how they’re all pretty: tall irises, short pansies, etc. It’s been decades since I looked at it but I was impressed by it at the time

I could never understand why Kirk was supposed to be the love interest and Spock wasn’t. Even as a little girl I could tell that Spock and Nimoy were a much better catch than Kirk and Shatner. Who wants a guy who’s more interested in himself than in you?

If any Evangelical Christians are applauding the latest Supreme Court decision, let me remind you how well that worked in the Bible: a series of bad kings led to a split, the fall of the northern kingdom, then the fall of Judah and the Babylonian exile.

We call ourselves a social orchestra. It’s different music each month. We don’t do concerts, we just play for fun. Sure, we may have 13 flutes & 15 cellos, but there’s always room for more!

Your 1st CPAP? You might need to try different styles of masks to get comfortable. I've been using one for around 30 years. I started w/ the mask that goes over your nose (not full face). As I moved in the night, I wd get squeaks & leaks, which drove me nuts. Nasal pillows work much better for me.

I really wish that all races had the political affiliation of the candidates listed. School boards are often how these people get their start, and it can be difficult to find enough information on the candidates. Maybe some states have this but California doesn't.

I understand the cultural thing. I also understand that I have an ankle that didn't grow right and I cannot walk or stand without foot and ankle support. I even wear a shower shoe in the shower. I am very leery of visiting anyone whose house rules effectively cripple me.

Amen. I’m old and never had heard of being ace when I was younger. I used to think I was just a big old prude. Now I think I’m ace. I resonate strongly with Patience’s song “I Do Not Know What This Love May Be That Cometh to All But Not to Me” in the G&S show.

I bought a shower chair a few years ago when my hips were acting up. It’s a little bit for our shower so I’m thinking of buying a smaller one. I can’t wear my brace in the shower so I worry about falling. (I also don’t go barefoot in the shower. I’ve been wearing shower shoes for traction for years)
