JLA lost me b/c the first, like, three issues showed Supes, WW, and Bats looking at pictures to decide who gets to join the team. I can see that kinda thing working in one of Meltzer’s novels, but it was painfully slow and ponderous in a monthly installment format.

I get the intent was different for Ultimate & New 52, but I feel like the practical effect was similar: “Hey let’s get rid of 30-60 yrs of backstory and create a fresh new jumping on point.” *One year passes.* “Oh no, this continuity is already too convoluted for new readers!”

Yeah, the Project 2025 proposals are apocalyptically bad. Replacing tons of VA employees with contractors & AI; decreasing the value of tons of disabilities in the rating schedule (or deleting them altogether); drastically shortening review time for initial claims and prioritizing fraud prevention.

As a VA attorney, it’s obvious how the plan to hire contractors for the bulk of claim development would result in a horde of trigger-happy yahoos that deny viable claims based on statutorily void policy changes.

I went through it with my favorite cat of all time a few years ago. It’s hard to slam into the limits of how much you can take care of them. But it shows how much you love them—which doesn’t make you feel better but it’s damn important.
