Show me a room of conservatives and I’ll show you a bunch of cowards too terrified to acknowledge their privilege. Beautiful things will outlive human folly. Dogs like me.
Going back to before my childhood watching the black and white stuff (Hartnell, Troughton) with my 8yo. The writing was always good (however much has dated quite a bit). Pertwee era is terrific but the Tom Baker years obviously is a step up in production values across the board.

Imagine thinking of one of the weakest and most bewildering moments of the modern ALP as an example to follow. They let *Dutton* be the person who got it done.

I’ve heard a theory that as smacking and other harsh techniques became unpopular in the 70s and 80s adhd/add kids stopped normalising to the unhealthy degree they had been and we began to see/appreciate them more. And of course even being aware that neurodiversity exists has helped a great deal.

That there are slippery slopes (trickle-down economics for example) doesn’t refute that the concept of slippery slope is frequently used to attack an idea when it isn’t a slippery slope (universal basic income for example)

I dumbly implied that but the main point I failed to make was how these Christian extremists rest their religiosity on select parts of (let’s say the Christian bible) while ignoring the complexity, richness and diversity of the text as a whole and the broader cultural and historical context.

Good article thanks again. It was never my intention to be an apologist for Christians of any sort but this article helps me understand how my statements inevitably did just that. Communities should acknowledge, criticise and even accept reasoned responsibility for their extremist fringe.

I’m so sorry for insulting the Torah it really really wasn’t my intention but I acknowledge I don’t understand enough the commonality and divergence between it and the Christian Old Testament to demonstrate how. Apologies all round. I honestly thought I was saying something supportive.

Sorry all I’ve clearly been clumsy here. I hold enormous swathes of Christianity in contempt and feel that much of it abandoned Jesus Christ (who seemed a decent person) a long time ago. It does my head in that the extreme psychos don’t get called out for it and yes are enabled by weak moderates.

The proclaim to be but I don’t see much in the way of actually following the teachings of Jesus. I’m an atheist and I think I follow his teachings more closely. To be fair you can criticise many other groups of “Christians” for the same such as many of the major church leadership groups.

What gets me is that these “Christians” are anything but. Purely authoritarian semi-literalist pick-and-choose Old Testament fools at best.

Its era of opportunity has closed so it needs to become a typical company that complies with the law and shareholder and community expectations.
