One such task is gathering and verifying all the official election returns from local authorities. After this, we'll publish a verified candidate-level dataset of vote counts, electorates, turnouts, etc. This takes a few days.

Thanks to the small army of Parliament's staff - Library, digital and elsewhere - who have been working tirelessly overnight to update Parliamentary systems to ensure that new MPs can move smoothly into their roles straight away. Much of the work now continues over the weekend.

Richard was Head of SGS during the ten years I worked for the Library and he was my boss for seven of them. He is an absolute legend: a model public servant who cares greatly about the integrity of both politics and statistics and a terrific mentor.

End of an era in the Commons Library today: Richard Cracknell is stepping down as Head of Social and General Statistics after over 25 years in the post. He has positively impacted so many careers during that time, and overseen an incredible amount of change. He will be missed!

Enjoyed this article about EBTG's Amplified Heart, but was taken aback to read that Thorn thinks Worldwide was "a bit rubbish". I must be one of those 'harbinger of failure' consumers.
It's no Walking Wounded or Idlewild or Amplified Heart, but really, what is?

Tashkent's metro stations are something else.
We found the country as a whole to be much easier for independent travel than we thought (and seemingly easier than it was a few years ago, according to the internet). Ubiquitous ATMs, card payment, taxi apps, English fairly widely spoken.

Uzbekistan was wonderful - unlike anywhere we've been before.
Already feels like a long time ago, having returned straight into the peak of pre-election fever.

Useful report from PACAC on strengthening the UK's evidence system - picks up many issues I raised in oral evidence including government making the evidence underpinning its policies more transparent and the need to systematically spot data gaps

Comfortably the largest denomination note I've ever seen. It's worth the grand sum of £6.30.
