It is unforgivable that most people of privilege in the West, including academics & researchers, are remaining silent & passive while their governments & institutions are enabling the #genocide of Palestinians. Have you neither shame nor humanity?

My fellow EU citizens, never forget that Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, travelled to Israel to give them 'unconditional support' on behalf of the EU. It's on us to never let her forget that she contributed to this genocide and ashamed all of us.

Everything and everyone is a target in Gaza: hospitals, schools, universities, refugee camps, doctors, journalists, aid workers, Palestinians, foreigners, Israeli hostages, babies, children, women, men, and animals. Israel knows no limit, and the world has allowed this to happen.

Thank you for sharing. Is it normal in Germany to deny the family access to his body? At the very least, it seems to me that there's something here that doesn't seem transparent.

My post: 'I wrote a post about a Jordanian student allegedly murdered in Hamburg, Germany, due to his pro-Palestine activism. The Hamburg Police denied being aware of such a case, so I deleted the post. Apologies to those who read it.'
Don't want to spread fake news. Things are already bad enough.

Jordan student, not Palestinian. Believe it or not, nothing would give me more pleasure than finding that this is fake. But I have no reason to doubt a colleague sharing and saying that this was confirmed by the Jordan Foreign Affairs. Also, I don't assume that only Western media is reliable.

'One narrative and late' is close to censorship, I'd say. But consider the possibility that they are late and will still report it.

Hotly discussed in Germany? That must be a joke! Apart from accusing everyone, including many Jews, of antisemitism, I don't see German media discussing the current racist discourse against Palestinians, Arabs and Muslims that is dominant in Germany.

Why do you fear it might be fake news? Is it because it is an Arab academic sharing? Do you think she would lie and tag the Hamburg Police? Please.

Germany decided that all Jews must be Zionists. It is mind-blowing that Germany believes it has any moral authority to express any opinion on what Jews should or should not be. The last time the country decided the destiny of its Jewish citizens, it ended with the Holocaust.

'I have doubts about how sincere they [in Germany] are in their efforts to fight antisemitism. I think there are elements to this policy that are basically antisemitic. The targeting of Jews, the ease with which Jewish voices are silenced.'

Every day, we see horrifying images from Gaza. Today, this one broke me. These Palestinian women cry in the place where a relative is under the rubble in Rafah. We are witnessing an absolute horror in real-time.

Each day, Israel sinks lower than the previous day. The level of sadism is beyond repulsive. We need a new word for this.
Each day, academia shows its cowardice and hypocrisy. My field, always competitive, is trying to win the gold medal.
I have never seen anything like this.

Certain countries love to speak about corruption in southern Europe and the Balkans but do not have much to say when it happens home.

Stopped reading it immediately.

Part of white Germany considers progressive Jews less Jewish than Zionist Jews. The country responsible for the Holocaust applies systems of classification and hierarchisation to the same people it tried to exterminate less than 80 years ago. This is deeply anti-semitic.

The West forgot that not everyone outside its borders is powerless. And within them, many of us will continue to do what we can to put an end to the genocide in Gaza and support the liberation of the Palestinian people.

Me: Let's support the boycott of Israeli universities.
People: How dare you?!
Me: Israel destroyed all universities in Gaza and killed several academics.
People: [silence]
This is nothing but academia's double standard and hypocrisy at its most disgusting.

What the fuck is a 'sustainable ceasefire'? Germany and the UK want to continue supporting Israel but without looking bad in the picture. Annalena Baerbock and David Cameron can both go to hell and take their disgusting and immoral proposal with them.

The US, the UK, and the EU, particularly Germany, have supported the genocide of tens of thousands of Palestinians. The genocide and the actions and discourses of its political leaders have been witnessed by the whole West in real time. Nothing they do will ever absolve them.

The Israeli hostages were not killed by 'accident', as I have read. They held a white flag. One of them managed to escape, being then chased and executed by Israeli forces. They thought they were executing Palestinians. Imagine how many times such war crimes have happened.

It's also telling that the three Israeli hostages murdered by Israeli forces triggered what the murder of tens of thousands of Palestinians by the same forces did not: mass protests in Tel Aviv.
