You can hold all the known fossils of Denisovans in your cupped hands. But as scientists find more of their DNA, they get more and more interesting. Here's my profile of these ghostly people. 🧪 gift link: www.nytimes.com/2024/03/02/s...
This is really interesting. Per the screenshotted bit; does this potentially mean that Denisovans were living in the same cave for a hundred thousand years?
If DNA is the main evidence that a tooth is Denisovan vs Neanderthal, what about the DNA indicates that the Denisovans are a different category of humans?
(Thanks for the link—the article still leaves me with questions about how they’re different)
Hey Carl! I loved rhis piece. But if the Denisovans were so successful, why are there so few fossils? Are there any hypotheses?
Were they fewer in number than Neanderthals? Is this the play of chance?
How much? To hold all the known fossils of Denisovans in my cupped hands? I’ll give you fifty bucks. Okay, a hundred. Come on, Carl. Work with me here. Let’s get this done.
