For an infant, the most confusing part of Newsround reporting on the end game of the Rhodesian War was the idea the country was controlled by a cabinet. I really did think it meant a fancy drinks cabinet, the sort you see posh people chatting next to in 70s smart TV drama.

My entire intellectual life is trying to understand things I heard references to in 1977-83, most of which turned out to be dull and inconsequential. I'm very bitter about that OU broadcast about the history of political thought.
