Datacenters have started charging premiums for hosting those Intel CPUs as they have been so much extra work. Total shit-show for such a large company to screw up like that, and still not have fixed it.

Datercenter provider: "Something isn't right with the 13900k and 14900k. We already replaced a lot of customer's CPUs and the issues don't seem fully resolved. We've been steering customers toward 7950x systems instead. They're almost always faster anyway." Kicking them when they're down, man.

Haha, in SG-1 they say "G.D.O." a lot as a term for the radio transmitters they carry that identify them when they're returning. It's never said in the show but on the DVD commentary they confirm it stands for "garage door opener".

This is so I can put a mini PC + webcam in the window to see when deliveries are about to arrive outside, replacing the old Raspberry Pi / OctoPrint server I used to use for the same thing, which I am never using again because fuck that broken shit of a worthless platform with botched Wifi and USB.

Trying to find the best software to use to stream a webcam from one Windows PC to another (and, ideally, also to an iPhone). Seems more complex than it should be, or involving random tools I've never heard of. :( My brain isn't up to this today. I need more sleep, and snacks. I have snacks now.

It'd be like saying "books are typically 4 page pamphlets." IDK, maybe there are so many tiny videos for social media etc. that a lot really are 100MB (although those tend to be even smaller!) but when I think of an MP4 h264 file I think of stuff that's usually 1 GB to 80 GB.

The Windows lock screen is a reminder of where we came from. Our heritage. Of when PCs used HDDs for their swap file, and far too much of it, coming to a complete standstill if a little too much was going on. Only still allowing the mouse to move because of deep hacks presenting an utter facade.

Making the Windows lock screen animated was one of the most ambitious things Microsoft have ever done. At the time, the idea that Windows, even on high-end hardware, could possibly be ready in time, just after reboot, to smoothly scroll some text up a background that becomes blurry was unfathomable
