There's no reason to throw all people with visual impairments under the bus for the minuscule percent of them who might be rude online. That just creates an escalating spiral of bitterness. Choose compassion.

Yes, I'm not visually disabled but I don't always have my reading glasses handy and Bluesky is often fussy about zooming in on pictures on the phone. Alt-text frequently helps me. Accommodations for disabilities help everyone. And yes, a little compassion please.

And a lot of the time the supposed or actual rudeness is an expression of frustration at needs repeatedly being ignored or dismissed. Needs! I’ve bristled at tone for sure but I try hard to understand the root is often being ignored, erased, dismissed, overlooked.
