If you have fluorescent lighting in your kitchen, that may be the culprit—if I understand correctly that can emit a lot of UV, especially if the tubes are faulty. (The tubes generate UV, which strikes the white coating and is down-converted to visible light—but quite a bit of UV gets through too.)
