That's my vote for this construction: "my co-Americans." But "my co-writers" could be ambiguous. My also-writers? I am technically a "Fellow" of MacDowell, and it does sound gendered to me in that context. Fellow writers doesn't sound gendered, but "I am a Fellow" does. Cause I'm no fella.

Pastry chefs are intense. I think the chef wept with rage that this invention took so long to come into being and that rage hardened into resolve like a boiled sugar sculpture and I think everyone else in the kitchen backed away.
