Of course you did not besmirch my driving, just saying following the rules works. I think adding unneccesary signalling is more dangerous. If there is no turn you are signalling you plan to pull off onto the shoulder. Do you signal on a curve? A turning lane is basically a curve

Why would unnecessary signaling be more dangerous? At worst it’s confusing which should make everyone around them pay more attention, which is safer.

You signal for exits, right? Like an ordinary exit? To let people know you're leaving the highway? That is my sticking point. If you are in an exit only lane, you are still exiting. I don't believe it becomes a special case where using a turn signal is somehow unwarranted.
