And even if they're just being performative online - truly, they need to shut up. This is make or break time, and we have a media ecosystem who seems largely uninterested in talking about Project 2025 and all the dangers we're staring down the barrel of. I'd rather we stamp it out now.

I really wish I understood where this mindset comes from. Because if you think I'm not aware of all the difficulties people face to vote, please check yourself. I am. My god. Anyone with the chance and means to exercise agency should. And I see plenty of doomers out there who just won't.

Fun fact, filling in a bubble on a piece of paper doesn't preclude anything at all. Are there people who just vote and don't engage in anything beyond electoral politics? Sure! But boy does the right love people like you. The more people you convince to not vote, the more powerful they get.

I'm sorry but at this stage, people who aren't committed to voting this November for the not-fascists are succumbing to the same mindset that influencers selling "natural" remedies to cancer patients peddle as good. Very unpleasant chemotherapy treatment sucks but is better than dying.

I want to pick at this some more to double check but a dehumidifier is going to turn the latent load of water into sensible heat once the refrigerant rejects that heat into the condenser. How the math works out on energy savings is less clear though, especially when RH affects comfort.

Huh. Well, assuming I've done the math right, then condensing 50 pints of water would release some 17 kWh of heat energy, which over 24 hours is 700 watts ish - much higher than the compressor wattage. So, uh, I actually can't find fault with the explanation!

I'll have to do the math to double check but there *is* some heat the evaporator absorbs as water condenses on it. That's the latent heat load that an air conditioner would indeed be fighting against. I'm just doubtful that's significant over the wattage of the compressor.

Nah, the heat you feel is the heat generated in the windings of the compressor. That's the energy it's spending, and since both the condenser and evaporator are in the same room that eventually makes its way out. After a short while you feel it

If you use that (or raw powdered citric acid) I would start a normal cycle with the high-temp wash, wait until you hear the dispenser open, then open the door and put say a half-cup of it in there. Maybe even a full cup. That should take care of a lot.

Allergens like this aren't in my wheelhouse, but the Glisten bottle doesn't mention this (unless it's in the wax plug?) so maybe that's OK? If not, citric acid is all that that is. Lemishine has some fragrance components but is otherwise just powdered citric acid.

I wasn't speaking to any of those requirements, just the materials cost. But for what it's worth, technically needing a permit and actually getting a permit are not the same thing - and it's not just DIYers who might skip it. Ask that electrician I hired.
