I think they knew exactly what they were doing. Hamas has been trying to provoke a war with Israel for years. They finally did something so egregious it could not be ignored & are exploiting it for maximal propaganda purposes. They welcome death believing there are 72 virgins waiting for them.

Sadly, you’re right. And millions of people are caught up in a disaster not of their own making. How radicalized do we think the survivors of watching their children starve to death, have no water, have no doctors for their wounds are going to be? We would be turned into extremists by that.

Side note: some linguists have said that the Arabic word gor the martyr's reward was mistranslated as "virgins." The correct translation is "grapes."
