Worst thing that happened to me was a guy idled in the street to block the Greenway and yell about stop signs. He was angry. I was annoyed. I don't think he knew about the new Idaho stop law. That was truly no big deal.

It’s scary AF when drivers don’t yield to bikes, so I vastly prefer protected lanes. But mostly, they do.

This feels so true. But what surprised me when I started bike commuting was that the majority of drivers are fine sharing the road. There’s such hostility on Facebook, Twitter and Nextdoor toward cyclists, I expected to feel like a NPC in GTA, but, mostly, drivers yield when they’re supposed to.

I’ve started biking to work from Mpls to St. Paul when the weather’s nice, which I absolutely would not do without protected bike lanes. I’m sure there are tons of others like me, I’m not some sort of pioneer here. The bike lanes are getting cars off the roads too, I think.

I agree. Volumes feel lower, the redesigned streets feel safer to drive on (although, yes, slower at times) with stupidity restricted. It’s nicer for residents of the city getting from place to place rather than someone trying to get through or in and out, maybe?
